Jay Howard - Bari

Hello!!!!! My name is Jay Howard and was recently asked to join the band The 95th Street Band. I grew up within Chicago area including Skokie, Highland Park and Chicago and am presently a citizen of Evanston, IL. My musical pursuits began while in 4th grade I took up the trombone. While in high school and college I played in the marching band, the concert band, the pep band (I.e., for home basketball games)and the jazz band. Again with high school, I had the pleasure of playing in pit orchestras for high school productions of "West Side Story", and "Camelot." It was in high school that I discovered the band Chicago and was heavily influenced by their trombonist James Pankow. It was in college (I.e., Drake University) that I was exposed to soul/funk music the likes of which include James Brown (I.E., Fred Wesley- James Brown;s trombone player,)The Crusaders and many other bands and musicians. Nine years after graduating college I took up the baritone sax and after a year of lessons I was able to include the sax in my gigs. After college I played in many bands including Funktion, The Haymarket Riot, The Business, and Power Play FYI, and will soon be playing with The 95th Street Band. So, if necessary, dust off your dancin' shoes because you're gonna need them. Let's all have a great 2024 and beyond, Jay Howard (also known as The Soulful Surgeon and/or Trombari).
