Marty Kalas - Baritone Saxophone
Marty earned a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Illinois and a M.M.E. in music from Vandercook College of Music in Chicago. While a college music major Marty performed in university symphonic bands, jazz bands, small chamber groups, marching band, and pep band. Prior to college Marty was an active performer, starting his own saxophone quartet called the Quazi-tones. In addition to his current duties with 95th Street Band, Marty also serves as the first call baritone saxophonist with the 8Ball Saxophone Quartet. Marty has performed with many other local acts and big bands around the Chicagoland area. Despite his busy teaching schedule, Marty remains active as a saxophone adjudicator throughout the Chicagoland area. Marty currently serves as a public school band director in Lincoln Park, and in his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
